さて、ブログ2回目の生地は、当店のTシャツについてご紹介します。

烏帽子をかぶって盆栽を甲羅に乗せた「盆栽カメ」は、当店のシンボル「盆栽フクロウ」同様、いつでもどこでも好きなものを好きなように楽しむ存在。これはワクワクとリラックスを兼ね備えた、あなたの「着て歩けるポータブルな庭」になりたいTシャツです。
The standout detail is the gold-hued lines forming the turtle’s shape. This is how it appears when shown purely as line art, without any color fills.
このカメの絵、ゴールド系の線で描かれているところがポイント。色を塗らないで線画だけだとこんな感じです。
Did you know that T-shirt fabrics are broadly classified into two yarn types—open-end yarn and ring-spun yarn? Open-end yarn is air-twisted, resulting in a thick, slightly rugged texture, while ring-spun yarn is rope-like, giving a smooth, glossy finish. Although open-end is the hallmark of American classic tees, most shirts you find in Japan actually use ring-spun. For the Bonsai Turtle tee, I insisted on open-end yarn for that exceptional “just-washed” feel—light, airy, and resistant to clinging. When the sample arrived, I was thrilled: it holds its structure yet feels fluffy, stays soft against the skin with zero itch, and is perfect for relaxed lounging, street-style layering, or mixing with tailored bottoms and vibrant prints.
さてTシャツの生地に使われる糸に、大きく分けて2種類あるのをご存知ですか。「オープンエンドヤーン」と、「リングスパン糸」です。
オープンエンドヤーンは空気の流れで撚り合わせた糸で、ざっくりして少しハードな厚手の生地です。リングスパンは縄のように撚った糸で、光沢感があり、なめらかな生地。アメリカのクラシックなTシャツといえばオープンエンドヤーンな一方、日本で流通するTシャツのほとんどは、実はリングスパン糸のもの。
どちらの生地もそれぞれ良い点がありますが、私はこの盆栽カメTシャツを作るにあたって、オープンエンドヤーンにこだわりました。洗いざらしの「Tシャツらしい」風合いが格別ですし、さらっとしていて肌に張り付くにくいところもいいです。
サンプルを取り寄せてみると大変満足できる生地で、少しハードな風合いといっても空気を含んでふんわりしていて、肌触りはやわらかく、ちくちくすることはありません。リラックスシーンやストリートファッション、かっちりしたボトムスや鮮やかなプリント地のスカート・パンツを合わせるミックステイストのファッションにも、このオープンエンドヤーンはぴったりだと思います。
